Our Report: Amazon has hired top executives from AI startup Adept and licensed their technology to boost its artificial general intelligence (AGI) efforts.

Amazon hired Adept co-founder and CEO David Luan, who will oversee Amazon's "AGI Autonomy" division, reporting directly to Rohit Prasad, head of Amazon's AGI unit.

📊 Google's Gemini falls short
Our Report: New research suggests that Google's flagship AI models, Gemini 1.5 Pro, and 1.5 Flash, struggle with analyzing large datasets, contradicting Google's assertions about their advanced "long context" capabilities.
🔑 Key Points:
Two separate studies found that Gemini 1.5 Pro and 1.5 Flash correctly answered questions about large datasets 40-50% of the time in document-based tests.
In a video-based test, Gemini 1.5 Flash only transcribed six handwritten digits from a 25-image "slideshow" with 50% accuracy, dropping to 30% with eight digits.
The studies suggest Google has been overpromising and under-delivering with Gemini's capabilities, with VP Oriol Vinyals' claim that 1.5 Pro "performs these sorts of reasoning tasks across every single page, every single word" appearing to be an exaggeration.
