Anthropic launches budget-friendly AI model

🚨 Our Report

Anthropic has launched Haiku 4.5, a redesigned version of its smallest AI model, aiming to make powerful AI cheaper for businesses. The move shows a growing trend toward AI systems that deliver strong execution without the massive toll of flagship models.

🔓 Key Points

  • Haiku 4.5 charges one-third as much as Sonnet 4 and just one-fifteenth the fees of Opus, Anthropic’s top-tier model, while matching or outperforming Sonnet 4 in tasks like coding.

  • The update targets companies seeking cheaper, scalable AI tools. “Small models make deployment more economical,” said Anthropic’s CPO Mike Krieger.

  • Anthropic earns roughly 80% of its revenue from enterprise clients, with more than 300,000 business customers using its AI tools. The company’s annual revenue approaches $7B.

🔐 Relevance

This release highlights the “small model” shift reshaping the AI market. As enterprises grapple with high computing fees, developers like Anthropic are emphasizing efficiency over sheer capability. Haiku 4.5 shows how scaling AI doesn’t always require the biggest model, signaling a broader pivot toward accessible, economically sustainable AI infrastructure.
