Latest in AI
Anthropic has updated Claude to perform tasks autonomously by controlling your computer through its Code and Cowork AI tools. The new feature can open files, use web browsers and apps, and run dev tools "with no setup required," even when you're away from your computer.
The feature is available as a research preview for Claude Pro and Max subscribers on macOS, and requires the desktop app to be paired with Claude's mobile app.
Claude prioritizes connectors to supported services like Slack and Google Workspace first, but will directly control your browser, mouse, keyboard, and display if a connector isn't available.
It works especially well with Dispatch, which lets users assign tasks from their phone, though complex tasks sometimes need a second try and screen control is slower than direct integrations.
This release reflects Anthropic's push to make AI agents more practical for everyday workflows, building on computer control capabilities first introduced in 2024. For enterprise teams already using Claude for coding and collaboration, autonomous computer control could reduce manual handoffs and speed up repetitive tasks. Anthropic says Claude will always ask for explicit permission before controlling your machine, but security-conscious organizations will want to evaluate the access implications before deployment.
THE BUSINESS BRIEFING: IT & OPERATIONS (powered by Upscaile)
Samsara (global connected operations platform, 1,000+ employees) was burning budget on a legacy helpdesk tool that charged premium prices for basic features. Renewal costs kept climbing, and any customization required filing tickets and waiting months. They replaced it with Workato's IT Genie, an AI agent built for helpdesk automation, deployed directly in Slack.
Tool used: Workato IT Genie -- AI agent that automates IT support tickets and integrates with Slack and Zendesk.
Result: Cut helpdesk costs while maintaining 97-98% customer satisfaction. Scaled from 4M to 40M automated tasks in 6 months. Changes now take minutes instead of months.
The lesson: Transparency drives adoption. Samsara called IT Genie a "baby bot still learning" and asked employees to help train it. Framing AI as a work-in-progress partner, not a finished product, eliminated skepticism.
Steal this: Identify one recurring IT request (password resets, app access, equipment requests). Deploy a Slack-based AI agent this week. Label it "beta" and ask users for feedback. Trust builds faster when employees feel like testers, not subjects.

THE POLICY CORNER
FDA published updated guidance broadening enforcement discretion for AI-enabled clinical decision support software and non-invasive consumer wearables that report physiologic metrics like blood pressure, oxygen saturation, or glucose. Software providing a single clinically appropriate recommendation may now avoid device classification if clinicians can independently review its logic and data inputs. Non-invasive wearables can stay outside device regulation if marketed strictly for general wellness with non-diagnostic notifications.
Risk: The moment your AI claims to diagnose, treat, or make urgent health decisions without a human in the loop, you're back in full FDA device territory. One wrong word in your marketing copy can trigger recalls and force you into a lengthy clearance process.
Your move: If you're building anything that touches health data or biometrics, review your product copy this week. Words like "diagnose," "detect," or "monitor" can flip your regulatory status overnight. Position features as "wellness insights" rather than medical advice, and keep a human checkpoint in your workflow.
