Latest in AI
Google has unveiled a AI Inbox view for Gmail that replaces the traditional email list with AI-generated summaries and suggested actions, aiming to help users prioritize tasks and catch up faster.
The AI Inbox uses signals like email frequency and response behavior to generate personalized to-dos and topic summaries, reframing the inbox as a task manager rather than a message list.
The feature is rolling out first to trusted consumer testers in the US, with Workspace accs excluded at the moment and no option yet to mark suggested tasks as completed.
Google says AI features can be disabled and that Gmail content is not used to train Gemini models, addressing concerns around data use and privacy.
This marks a meaningful shift in how email is structured and consumed, with AI actively shaping user priorities rather than passively sorting messages. For operators and leaders, it means deeper AI integration into everyday productivity tools, plus questions around attention control, trust, and workflow dependence on automated judgment.

Case Study
Postscript, an SMS platform with over $100M in ARR and global operations, struggled with slow, outdated systems that delayed critical business insights.
Traditional ERP platforms functioned as "dumb databases," forcing teams to rely on spreadsheets and bolt-on tools, which led to weeks-long wait times for simple requests.
They implemented Rillet, an AI-native ERP platform that processes structured data through a smart general ledger, automating workflows and delivering real-time reporting.
As a result, Postscript currently closes their books in just three days (down from weeks), enabling faster decisions with a leaner team.
AI News Story
NY Attorney General Letitia James has demanded information from Instacart over its use of algorithmic pricing, following a Consumer Reports study that found a 7% average difference across shoppers for identical grocery lists at the same store.
Instacart says it stopped price experiments in December and says the tests were randomized, not based on personal data or characteristics, though the company did display NY-mandated disclaimers stating prices were "set by an algorithm using your personal data."
James argues those disclaimers may not meet the state's clarity requirements and has requested Instacart's pricing agreements with retailers, along with documentation on how customers were selected for experiments.
AI News Story
Google and Character.AI are negotiating what could be the tech industry's first major settlements involving AI-related harm. The cases center on teenagers who died by suicide or harmed themselves after prolonged interactions with Character.AI's chatbot companions.
The most prominent lawsuit involves 14-year-old Sewell Setzer III, who engaged in sexualized conversations with an AI persona before taking his own life. His mother has since testified before the Senate, calling for companies to be held "legally accountable when they knowingly design harmful AI technologies."
Character.AI banned minors from its platform last October, and the settlements are expected to include monetary damages, though neither company has admitted liability. OpenAI and Meta, facing similar lawsuits, will be watching the outcome closely as courts begin to define the boundaries of AI accountability.
