Pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly is collaborating with Nvidia to build a supercomputer that will train AI models on a multitude of experiments. The goal is to test potential medicines and significantly shorten drug development cycles, getting treatments to patients faster.
Lilly will train proprietary AI models on over 1M+ experiments, expanding the scope of its drug discovery efforts and allowing scientists to test a wider range of potential medicines.
Select AI models will be accessible via Lilly TuneLab, a platform allowing biotech partners to use Lilly’s research data for drug discovery without exposing proprietary information from either company.
Beyond initial discovery, the supercomputer will be used to improve manufacturing processes and advance imaging, shortening overall drug development timelines from start to finish.
This partnership marks a strategic shift, embedding AI as a core component of pharmaceutical R&D. For industry leaders, it shows how specialized supercomputing is becoming a critical competitive advantage to shorten expensive development timelines.
