TOGETHER WITH IBM
There’s so much more to watching sports than watching. When every shot, by every player, on every hole produces more than 30 data points, the Masters app turns golf into a data-rich, AI-powered immersive experience.
Here’s how the Masters on IBM’s AI pulls fans closer to the game:
Hole Insights: Why a shot matters, the instant the ball comes to rest
Scoring probabilities: Calculations based on historic shot data.
Round in 3 Minutes: Video recaps after a player completes play.
Masters Vault: 50+ years of favorite final-round now searchable with AI.
Latest in AI
Meta Superintelligence Labs has launched Muse Spark, the first model in the Muse series, marking Meta's push toward what it calls "personal superintelligence." The model now powers the upgraded Meta AI assistant across the Meta AI app, meta.ai, and will soon roll out to Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Meta's AI glasses.
The team rebuilt its AI stack from scratch in just nine months, with Muse Spark designed to be small and fast while still handling complex reasoning in science, math, and health questions.
The model introduces strong multimodal perception, letting users snap a photo of anything and get real-time analysis, and it can launch multiple AI subagents in parallel to tackle complex questions.
Meta is opening API access to select partners in private preview and has stated it hopes to open-source future versions of the model, following its approach with Llama.
This positions Meta as a direct competitor to OpenAI and Anthropic in the assistant race, with a key differentiator: deep integration across Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Messenger. For enterprises evaluating AI assistants, Meta's open-source roadmap and multimodal capabilities signal another major player entering the field. This marks a shift in strategy, as Meta moves from open-source model releases (Llama) to a full-stack AI assistant competing directly for consumer and enterprise attention.
THE BUSINESS BRIEFING: FINANCE (powered by Upscaile)
Kingfisher GBS (international home improvement retailer, 74,000 employees) was drowning in manual invoice data entry. Their 200-person AP team processed 40,000 invoices monthly, spending 5 minutes per invoice typing data from PDFs into SAP across 6 countries and multiple languages. Growing volume meant adding more headcount just to keep pace.
Tool used: Rossum -- automated invoice data extraction with SAP integration.
Result: Cut invoice indexing time from 5 minutes to 25 seconds (90% reduction). Hit 60% touchless processing with zero manual intervention. Redeployed 14 FTEs to exception handling and vendor queries.
The lesson: Automation scales only when your workflows feed it clean, structured handoffs. Kingfisher organized 12 processing queues by country and invoice type before going live, ensuring the system routed documents correctly from day one.
Steal this: Map your current invoice-to-ERP workflow on paper this week. Identify where data gets re-keyed manually. That's your automation entry point — even a 50% reduction in typing time pays back in weeks.
TOGETHER WITH THE AI FOUNDER ACCELERATOR
Not a side project collecting dust. Not a demo you show at meetups. A real product with real users who pay recurring revenue — built with AI, structured by CTO judgment, and 100% owned by you. The AI Founder Accelerator makes that a system, not a dream.
THE POLICY CORNER
Gov. Gavin Newsom signed executive order N-5-26 on March 30, requiring any company contracting with California government to explain AI usage and policies. Vendors must show how they prevent illegal content distribution (including child sexual abuse material and non-consensual intimate imagery), civil rights violations, discrimination, and harmful bias. The order also mandates ongoing monitoring of errors and biases post-approval, plus watermarking of all AI-generated videos and images.
Deadline: In effect now for new contracts; existing vendors have 90 days to comply.
Your move: If you sell to or service California state agencies, audit your AI disclosure documentation this week and prepare bias monitoring reports.

The Money: Defense and infrastructure absorb AI capital
Two of the week's largest AI funding rounds bypassed foundation models entirely. As hyperscalers saturate compute capacity and Pentagon demand accelerates, investors are backing the physical layer: simulation environments for autonomous systems and networking hardware for AI clusters.
Deals to know:
Shield AI (Series G, $1.5B) -- AI autonomy software for military aircraft, including F-16s and drones. Acquiring simulation company Aechelon to train Hivemind foundation model. Investors: Advent International, JPMorganChase, Blackstone
Aria Networks (Series B, $125M) -- Ethernet switches for AI data centers with 1.6T throughput and AI-powered network optimization. Already shipping to early adopters. Investors: Sutter Hill Ventures, Valor Equity Partners, Eclipse Ventures
Signal: Capital is migrating from model development to deployment infrastructure. Defense simulation and data center networking represent two sides of the same thesis: whoever controls the operating environment controls AI's real-world performance.
