Meta has refused to sign the EU’s new, voluntary Code of Practice, which was published earlier this month and is designed to help tech companies, like Meta, implement the processes and systems needed to comply with the EU’s AI Laws, which aim to regulate AI.
The new voluntary Code of Practice includes safety guidelines, copyright protections, and transparency requirements. If a company chooses to sign it, it could receive legal protection if accused of violating the AI Laws.
But according to Meta, “Europe is heading down the wrong path on AI,” and although it has “carefully reviewed” the Code of Practice, it will not be signing it because it has several “legal uncertainties” for developers.
Meta also believes that it has “measures which go far beyond the scope” of the EU’s AI Laws, which will “throttle the development and deployment of frontier AI models in Europe” and will “hinder Europe’s growth.”
Although OpenAI has signed the new Code of Practice, claiming it “reflects our commitment to providing capable, accessible, and secure AI models for Europeans to fully participate in the economic and societal benefits of the Intelligence Age," Meta is the latest tech company to push back against the EU’s rollout of its AI Laws. Alongside Meta, Google, Microsoft, Airbus, and Mistral AI have all recently signed a letter urging the EU to delay the rollout of the AI laws. But the EU has, so far, steadfastly refused to change its timelines.

Lowes—a home improvement retailer—faced challenges with unpredictable customer behavior, inefficient store layouts, and changing trends.
This made it difficult to ensure optimal product placement, maintain inventory levels, and predict demand for seasonal or trending products.
They integrated predictive analytics to forecast demand, and AI-powered camera’s to provide insights and identify improvement areas.
As a result, overstocking was reduced and store layouts were improved to ensure better product availability—satisfying customers.
Your leads vanish when they’re left on hold or met with slow replies.

Netflix has revealed that it’s started using AI to make the films and TV shows it produces, and has announced that the first AI footage that will be shown will be in an Argentinian show called “El Eternauta.”
According to Netflix, the internal production team used AI to create a scene of a building collapsing, which they managed to finish 10x quicker than if they’d used traditional visual effect tools.
Netflix is also planning to use AI for personalization features, including interactive ads, which users will start seeing later this year after rolling out an AI-powered search tool earlier this year.
Following the release of Grok 4, Elon Musk’s controversial chatbot, which was criticized for its anti-Semitic and other inappropriate responses, his AI start-up, xAI has announced its next model: “Baby Grok.”
Although details are currently scarce, Baby Grok is reportedly going to be a child-friendly version of Grok that will deliver “safe and suitable” content, specifically for young children.
It’s expected to be a simplified adaptation of Grok, with filters that parents can control to manage their children’s experience, but xAI hasn’t yet clarified the differences in moderation between Grok 4 and Baby Grok.
