Despite its good intentions, there is skepticism surrounding how effective this tool will be, as currently, there are no parent or teacher admin controls, meaning students can switch into the regular ChatGPT to get answers.

A research paper published just last month shows that students who used ChatGPT to write essays showed lower brain activity compared to those who used Google. Based on prompts, “Canvas” will automatically add and store information, over multiple sessions, into individual boards within a side panel, designed to help with things like study plans or travel itineraries.
