OpenAI’s groundbreaking coding agent

🚨 Our Report

OpenAI has launched a research preview of its ā€œmost capable AI-powered coding agentā€ to date—Codex—to ChatGPT Pro, Enterprise, and Team users. It believes it will eventually become a ā€œvirtual teammateā€ as it can autonomously take on tasks that usually take human engineers ā€œhours or even daysā€ to complete.

šŸ”“ Key Points

  • Codex is powered by Codex-1, a software engineering-optimized version of OpenAI’s o3 reasoning model, which produces ā€œcleanerā€ code, ā€œadheres more precisely to instructions, and iteratively runs tests on its code.ā€

  • It handles multiple tasks simultaneously and can take from 1- 30 minutes to write code, fix bugs, answer codebase questions, and run tests. Users can also use their computer as normal while Codex is running.

  • OpenAI has been using Codex internally to ā€œoffload repetitive tasks, scaffold new features, and draft documentation,ā€ and early adopters—Cisco and Superhuman—have reported increased efficiency.

šŸ”Ā RelevanceĀ

This comes after OpenAI (reportedly) recently closed a deal to acquire AI coding platform, Windsurf, for $3B, as its biggest rivals release their own AI coding agents. For example, Anthropic released Claude Code earlier this year, just last month, Google updated its coding assistant—Gemini Code Assist—with agentic capabilities, and Microsoft believes that roughly 30% of its code is currently written by AI.

AI is fueling a scammer's paradise. Protect your personal info—get it off the web now!

You’ve likely received a sketchy call, text, or email asking for $$$. It might've been easy to spot, but with deepfakes and AI, scams are getting trickier.

🚨 Our Report

During Computex (Asia’s biggest electronics forum), AI chip-maker NVIDIA announced a string of new AI technologies and revealed plans to build a new HQ and AI chip factory—called NVIDIA Constellation—in the Northern suburbs of Taipei, in Taiwan.

šŸ”“ Key Points

  • The most notable product announcement was NVLink Fusion—a platform that opens up NVIDIA servers to allow companies to use AI chips from other manufacturers to build semi-customized AI infrastructure.

  • NVIDIA’s goal with Fusion is to broaden the reach of its products and eliminate ā€œbarriers to AI adoption,ā€ as it will give customers more flexibility, while keeping NVIDIA technology at the center.

  • It's also partnered with supplier Foxconn to build an AI factory in Taiwan, as the country ā€œplays a key role in the global chipmaking industryā€ (NVIDIA’s biggest suppliers are Taiwanese-based TSMC and Foxconn).

šŸ” Relevance

These announcements come after NVIDIA revealed (last week) a huge deal with Saudi Arabia’s new AI startup, Humaine, which plans to build the world’s biggest data center, in partnership with the US. This and its latest slew of product updates are undoubtedly diversifications aimed at sustaining its market leadership position, as export restrictions, potentially falling demand for AI chips, and big tech companies building their own AI chips to reduce reliance on NVIDIA, threaten to harm its AI chip-driven growth.

  • As part of Trump's ambitious $500B Stargate project, OpenAI is partnering with Abu Dhabi-based tech conglomerate, G42, toĀ build a 5-gigawatt data center in Abu Dhabi.

  • The data center will reportedly sprawl over 10 square miles—making it bigger than the country of Monaco and larger than any other AI data center in the world—and could power the equivalent of 5 nuclear reactors.

  • OpenAI has begun the development of its first Stargate data center in Abilene, Texas, which is expected to reach just 1.2 gigawatts in capacity, meaning the new Middle Eastern data center will quadruple that.
