TOGETHER WITH SHOPIFY
Being on Shopify means your products are already on the right surfaces where agents and buyers are looking.
Shopify's Spring '26 Edition ships more than 150 updates built for that shift. Shopify Catalog, which structures a merchant's product data and syndicates it across AI surfaces automatically, ships new API endpoints for image search, bulk lookup, and richer product data.
The Universal Commerce Protocol—co-developed with Google— is now open for any developer to build on and gives agents a shared standard for the full commerce journey, from discovery through checkout.
Agentic Storefronts Admin shows merchants how they're performing across AI channels and where to optimize. Point of sale (POS) and Shop app keep buying seamless and personalized, both in-store and in the app.
Latest in AI
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis have called for a U.S.-led coalition to shape global AI rules and standards at a closed-door meeting with tech leaders and heads of state at the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, France. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney agreed that the U.S. could take the lead.
Around a dozen tech executives attended the meeting, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, alongside President Trump, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Amodei proposed international cooperation on structured access to frontier models, trade of chips excluding China, and addressing AI risks in cyber, bioterrorism, and intelligence, according to sources familiar with the discussions.
The gathering follows recent releases of AI models with advanced cyber capabilities, including Anthropic's Fable 5 and Mythos 5, which were disabled on Friday after the U.S. imposed export controls citing national security concerns.
The push for a U.S.-led AI coalition points to a potential shift toward coordinated international regulation with American oversight. For enterprises, this could mean standardized testing requirements, new compliance frameworks, and clearer rules around frontier model access. How the Trump administration responds will shape global AI governance rules heading into 2027.
The AI Report Podcast
THE BUSINESS BRIEFING: CUSTOMER SERVICE (powered by Upscaile)
Erewhon (10-store specialty grocer, Los Angeles) was manually handling every customer service inquiry across all locations—no prioritization for high-value members, no consistency across responses. Customer service teams were spending 20+ hours per week on repetitive tickets, with no visibility into which customers spent the most.
Tool used: Zapier + ChatGPT + HelpScout—automated ticket routing and AI-drafted responses grounded in institutional knowledge.
Result: 70% of AI-drafted responses sent without human edits. 1,500 labor hours saved annually (~$40K in equivalent cost savings). High-spend members now flagged automatically with purchase history surfaced for prioritization.
The lesson: Chris Morrison, Erewhon's Business Analyst, built a 39-step workflow connecting ticket systems, customer databases, and AI—then built a second AI to grade the first one's accuracy. AI adoption works when someone inside the company owns it, tests it, and proves the ROI before rolling it out.
Steal this: Audit your customer service inbox this week. Identify the 5 most common ticket types. Draft standard responses for each, then test an AI tool (ChatGPT, HelpScout AI, or Zapier) to auto-draft replies. Measure how often agents send the draft unchanged. If it's above 50%, scale it.
TOGETHER WITH INNOVATING WITH AI
This free Claude skill adapts three real signed AI consulting proposals — a 30-day audit, a 90-day hybrid build, and a one-year transformation contract signed for $724,500 — to your specific client. Drop in your discovery notes and get a polished draft ready to send.
THE POLICY CORNER
EU AI Act enforcement for high-risk systems begins August 2. 48 days out, penalties can reach up to 7% of global revenue.
If your AI screens job applicants, approves credit, makes medical recommendations, or runs critical infrastructure anywhere in the EU, you're covered. The regulation requires continuous risk management, documented data governance to control bias, full technical documentation for audits, and structured human oversight with clear intervention points. Applies to any company selling or operating high-risk AI in EU markets, regardless of HQ location.
Deadline: August 2, 2026 -- full enforcement begins in 48 days.
Your move: Audit every AI system touching hiring, credit, medical decisions, or infrastructure. If it operates in the EU and lacks documented risk management, bias controls, or human oversight, you're exposed. Flag non-compliant systems to legal this week.

The Money: Enterprise AI consolidates fast
Two of the biggest AI deals this week went to platforms embedding AI into existing workflows, not standalone model labs. As enterprises tire of tool sprawl, acquirers are paying premium multiples for proven deployment infrastructure that ships measurable ROI.
Deals to know:
Fin (Acquisition, $3.6B) -- AI customer service agent resolving queries across chat, SMS, phone, Slack. Acquired by Salesforce to integrate into Agentforce. Previous investors: Bessemer, Kleiner Perkins
Odyssey (Series B, $310M) -- World model startup simulating physical environments for robotics and gaming. $1.45B valuation. Investors: Natural Capital, Amazon, AMD Ventures, GV
Signal: Smart money betting enterprises want fewer tools, not better chatbots. Deployment platforms with embedded agents command acquisition premiums 4x higher than point solutions.
