Password manager 1Password launched a new platform that lets AI agents log into user accounts without ever seeing their credentials. The service, 1Password for Agents, creates a verification system where agents request access, users approve the attempt, and 1Password fills in credentials on the agent's behalf, keeping passwords hidden from the AI.
When an agent tries to log in, 1Password sends a unique digital key to confirm the agent's identity, then alerts the user to approve or deny the request before automatically filling credentials without exposing them to the agent.
The platform works with Claude Duet, OpenAI's Dots and ChatGPT Work, Grok Bot, Meta's Muse, and agents from Town, with additional integrations planned as 1Password expands partnerships with other AI assistant providers.
The launch comes as U.S. banks report detecting agentic activity inside customer accounts, raising concerns about automated services acting on financial matters—prompting Chase to warn customers never to share usernames and passwords with anyone.
For enterprises deploying AI agents, this addresses a core security risk: granting AI access to systems without compromising credential security. Banks are already flagging agent activity as problematic because they can't distinguish authorized automation from unauthorized access. 1Password's approach gives CISOs a way to enable agent workflows while maintaining credential control and audit trails—solving the "delegate without surrender" problem that will only intensify as agents become operational standard.

Steal this: Pull your last talent assessment cycle time. If it took more than 8 weeks to assess leadership candidates, you're losing pipeline velocity to logistics and coordination overhead. Maruti Suzuki replaced physical assessment centers with an AI platform that integrated psychometrics, case studies, and simulations into one unified system. Map your next high-stakes assessment cohort, calculate current cycle time, then test an AI-enabled model on one business unit before scaling enterprise-wide.

Meta reported negative free cash flow of $2.12 billion in Q3 and increased its full-year capex range to $135–145 billion, raising the floor from $130 billion. The miss on cash generation coupled with continued AI infrastructure buildout triggered a broader tech sell-off, with the Nasdaq falling over 2% in its worst session since June.
Why it matters: Meta's financial results intensify investor scrutiny over whether massive AI capital investments will translate into profitable revenue streams, a question facing every major tech player scaling AI infrastructure.
THE MONEY
The AI funding gap just widened. While early-stage rounds tighten, the largest foundation model companies are pulling in unprecedented capital at valuations that dwarf traditional tech IPOs. OpenAI's potential $1.25 trillion valuation would make it the most valuable private company ever, signaling investors believe winner-take-most dynamics are accelerating.
Deals to know:
OpenAI (Private round, $30B) -- Negotiating pre-money valuation of $1.25T with Coatue and UAE investors, potentially coupled with compute capacity agreements. Would be highest-valued private company ever. Investors: Coatue, UAE sovereign funds
Flapping Airplanes (Series A, $1B at $6B valuation) -- Nine months after $180M seed, the Stanford-founded lab raised another billion for data-efficient training frameworks. Valuation jumped 4x. Investors: Index, Lux, Sequoia, GV, Kleiner Perkins, Nvidia
Signal: AI labs are choosing dilution over discipline. Stay private, delay governance scrutiny, and extend the hype cycle as long as investors keep betting on potential over profit.
