Prospecting tools do three jobs: find the right companies and people, enrich them with data such as work emails and phone numbers, and run outreach. Some do all three. Others are best at one.
This guide compares the main options on price, free plans, data and limits, using each vendor's own pages. Email deliverability and privacy rules matter as much as the tool, so read the tips at the end before you send.

- GTM Studio for workflow orchestration, with Agent Teams launched in October 2026
- API access through GTM.AI without a platform subscription

How to choose
- Set up email authentication before you send. Gmail requires anyone sending more than 5,000 messages a day to Gmail accounts to use SPF, DKIM and DMARC, offer one-click unsubscribe and keep spam rates below 0.3%, and Outlook.com has required SPF, DKIM and DMARC from domains sending more than 5,000 emails a day since May 5, 2025.
- Warm up new domains and mailboxes and raise volume slowly. Google advises starting with low volume to engaged recipients, sending at a steady rate and avoiding sudden spikes; warmup is included in Instantly, lemlist and Amplemarket and can be paid with credits in Apollo, but it does not replace authentication or a clean list.
- Check privacy rules for the countries you email. In the UK you can email company staff without prior consent under PECR, but you must say who you are and offer an opt-out, sole traders need consent, and UK GDPR still applies to named work emails; under EU GDPR Article 14, if contact data came from a third party, you must tell the person its source and their rights by your first message.
- In the US, CAN-SPAM makes no exception for business-to-business email. Each message needs accurate headers, a valid postal address and a working opt-out honored within 10 business days, and each violating email can draw a penalty of up to $53,088.
- Compare cost per usable contact, not plan price. Phone numbers usually cost more credits than emails (Lusha charges 5 credits for a phone number and 1 for an email), and many plans expire unused credits: Apollo resets credits each billing cycle, Lusha annual credits reset at year end, and Instantly credits expire 2 months after purchase on monthly plans.
- Read the term and renewal clauses before you sign. ZoomInfo paid plans are annual and usually billed upfront, Amplemarket's published plan is on an annual term and Apollo's annual billing commits you to 12 months; ZoomInfo's own guide suggests confirming the cancellation notice period before auto-renewal.
