400,000+ business leaders (and teams at IBM, AWS & Zapier) start their day with The AI Report. 5 minutes. Plain English. No hype.
On the latest episode of The AI Report Podcast, Brett explains how Rare built Agent Tierra, an AI agent that gives smallholder farmers in Colombia agronomy advice through WhatsApp. The agent is called Luce, and Rare’s pilot started with about 200 hand-picked farmers. It now reaches 16,000 in Colombia alone.
Brett Jenks is the CEO of Rare, a global conservation nonprofit that has been working for more than 50 years and now operates in 60 countries. He has run it for 26 of those years.
A few things Brett covers:
Why Rare started with trust and social influence, and treated financial incentives as the second question
How Luce works for farmers who already use WhatsApp every day
What changes when the program moves from Colombia to Brazil and Honduras
The scale question: roughly 600 million smallholder farmers worldwide need similar support
