What's inside

Six places Copilot already lives at work

Copilot is built into the Microsoft apps most companies run on. Microsoft says it has more than 30 million paid Microsoft 365 Copilot seats (July 2026), and 17% of US adults say they use Copilot (Pew Research Center, February 2026). Among our readers, Copilot use doubles at companies of 5,000 people or more.

Get better answers

Three habits that make every prompt work better

Give it context Words in [brackets] are yours to fill in. The more detail you add (who it is for, what good looks like, any numbers), the better the answer.
Use the right place Each prompt is labelled with where to run it. A prompt that reads your inbox or a file needs to run where the tool can see them.
Don't start over Not quite right? Reply with what to change: shorter, more formal, as a table, or give me three options. The second answer is usually the one you keep.

Questions

Is the guide really free?

Yes. Enter your email and the full 15-page PDF is yours. You also get The AI Report, the five-minute AI briefing for business leaders, every weekday. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Do I need a Microsoft 365 Copilot license?

For some prompts, yes. Features such as Facilitator in Teams meetings, the Copilot app with your work data, and the Researcher and Analyst agents need a Copilot license. Each prompt is labelled with where to run it, so you can see what applies to you.

Where do I find Copilot in Outlook, Excel and Teams?

In Outlook, click the Copilot icon in a message or use Summary by Copilot at the top of a thread. In Excel, Word and PowerPoint, click the Copilot button at the bottom right to open the pane. In Teams, click Open Copilot in a chat, or Copilot in the meeting controls.

How do I use the prompts?

Copy the prompt, replace the words in [brackets] with your details and run it where the label says. If the answer is not quite right, reply with what to change instead of starting over.

Can I share it with my team?

Yes. Forward the PDF to anyone who would use it. They can get their own copy, and The AI Report, from this page.
