How To Use AI To Face the Fear Blocking Your Business

Most conversations about AI and marketing focus on how to get it to do work for you.

That misses the real problem.

Sometimes we struggle not because we don't know how, and not because we don't have time, but because we're afraid to try.

For my first three years in business, that fear was paid advertising.

With very limited resources, ads felt like a black hole. Money goes in and there’s a very high chance that nothing comes back. Everyone said it was the obvious next step to scale the company. I knew it too. But I put it off out of fear.

And, in 2025, finally overcoming that fear of advertising became one of our biggest accomplishments, growth levers, and psychological wins.

For most marketers, there’s usually an obvious next step that we hesitate to take out of fear.

And psychological problems necessitate psychological solutions. The fix? Start with a (obnoxiously) simple prompt: “Help me overcome my fear of doing this.”

Then go deeper:

  • What exactly am I afraid will happen if I take this step?
  • What is the worst-case outcome, in plain language.
  • How likely is that outcome, and what would I do if it happened?
  • Is this belief serving me, or protecting my ego?
  • If I never overcome this, do I still hit my long-term goals?

Most fear is a facade. It looks intimidating until you look closely. Or consider it from a different angle.

Use AI to do just that. Befriend your chatbot. The first step to overcoming the fear might just be talking about it.

Don’t let 2026 be another year of “almost” getting started. Of “almost” trying the thing. Rather than asking AI to “do stuff” for you, ask it to reframe your situation, interrupt your analysis paralysis, and reveal a doable path to taking the first (often hardest) step.
